Week 3

This week, Dr.Wong arranged meeting with the client for us to understand further our topic. Porfessor Manohar briefed us with the topic, situation, needs and problems of this area. After the meeting, we start on Figjam with the problem stated by Professor.

Moving on, we need to specify our targedted user group. For the target group we decided to go with Nurse (medical professional) and Family Member (caregiver). As we are going to interview the 2 targeted group we also include the interview inclusion and exclusion criteria.

Fig 3.3 Research (Week 3, 08/10/25)

Moving on, we start to brainstorm questions for interview here we gather some possible questions for both targeted group of nurse and family member. As we compile a lot, we sort it go with the most relevant ones.

During class, Dr.Wong also showed us simulation of interview, and I was chosen to be the representation.

Fig 4.1 Interview Simulation in Class (Week 4, 14/10/25)

After finalizing the questions, this week, we conducted interview with 3 nurses and 3 family members. We managed to book slot to interview nurse in Assunta hospital. We went there on 15th October. Aside, we also do observation. In addition, we need to print consent form given by Professor Manohar to be sign by the interviewee (nurse). Besides that, we need to record the interview.

Fig 4.2 Interview (Week 4, 14/10/25)

After finalizing interview with nurses, we intervied family members. Since my group just has 5 members and we need to interview 6 people, I decided to interview 2 person. The family member we interviewed is Aveline's mom, Qiankuan's mom and Btari's mom as they have experience with taking care of elderly with mobility issue.

After the interview, we did transcript and highlight key message by interviewee. Next,  we organize into the each interviewee's findings consist of Background, Behaviour/Habbits, Pain Point/Challenge, Goals, Motivation, and Needs. Each member is responsible to do their part as the person they interview.

Week 5

After that, we jot down the key findings in sticky notes that later we organize into narrower into top 5 findings. Furthermore, we also include the affinity diagram to have a clearer vision of responds from the interviewee.

Week 6

Define Phase

After the findings, we decide to define it into 7 categories such as Physical Effort & Workforce Deman, Design & Equipment Limitations, Usability, Independence, Safety & Stability Concerns, Comfort, and Emotional Wellbeing.

Fig 6.1 Findings Categories (Week 6, 28/10/25)

Fig 6.2 Findings Categories (Week 6, 28/10/25)

After classifying into 7 categories, we moved on to discover 'The What' Key Themes and with that we will have a consice 'The Why' or so called Insight Statement.

Fig 6.3 Findings Categories (Week 6, 28/10/25)

From all the informations gather, we are able to make the user persona for both nurse and family member target user.

Fig 6.4 User Persona (Week 6, 30/10/25)

From the findings and user persona, we could then define the user empathy map as below.

Fig 6.5 Empathy Map (Week 6, 31/10/25)

With all clear, we are ready to form the Problem Stement (POV) for each targeted group (Nurse & Family Member).

Fig 6.6 POV Statement (Week 6, 01/11/25)
Not to forget, we also allign our project with the UNSDGs Goals mainly, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well Being), SDG 9 ( Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities)

Fig 6.7 UNSDG (Week 6, 02/11/25)

Moving on, we define our How Might We as well as alligning it with the SDG chosen. Below are the posible how might we, then we narrow it down to 5. Then we decided the one higlighted in red are the one we want to focus more.

Fig 6.8 How Might We (Week 6, 03/11/25)

Week 7

And with all above, we created the user journey map for both nurse and family member targeted group. We work on to define the journey steps, user actions, goals & experiences, feelings and thoughts, pain points, and the opportunities. After that, we also did some brainstorming, plotting featuress and prioritazion matrix.

Week 8

Ideate Phase

This week during class, Dr.Wong gave us activity called 'Crazy 8 Ideation'. We were given 2 minutes, provided with paper and we should come up with 8 ideas for our topic. We can draw and write the details. After all of us did the ideations, we gather it in Figjam and discuss further which idea are we going to propose. We decided to go with the sliding mat that is height adjustable.

Fig 8.1 Ideation (Week 8, 11/11/25)

Fig 8.2 Ideation (Week 8, 11/11/25)

During the mid-term presentation, we proposed the sliding mat. While Professor Manohar siad it is a good idea, he look at our other idea and love the stretcher that can be detached from the wheelchair frame so elderly could lay on the bed. Professor suggested us to go with that idea but with further refinement such as height adjustable as sometimes the height of the wheelchair is different from the height of the bed.  Minimalist armrest that can be moved up and down so there is no blockage during the transfer. Also small wheels, so when the stretcher is detached from the frame during transfer, it will not bklock the way.

Testing Phase

As Btari work on the 3D modeling, we did the defining usability goals & concerns, defining the participants, identifying scenario and task and deciding how to measure usability.

Fig 12.2 Testing Phase (Week 12, 09/12/25)

However, since our product is not physically real, as it is a 3D render, we decided to do concept testing by doing interview to ask caregiver regarding our prototype, below we also created some interview for testing. In addition, we also made a name for our product called 'Mobibed' and did logo for it.

Week 13

After finalizing the interview question, we begin to interview. Before we start asking question, we showed interviewee the prototype video first and start our later on ask feedback for our prototype concept. After the interview, i need to translate to English as I did the interview in Indonesian, then I proceed to transcript. Below is our interview transcript.

REFLECTION

Experience
This 14 weeks feels like a roller coaster. In a blink of an eye, I've come to the end of the semester. From the begining there are struggles, I personally seldom become the leader, however, I was chosen to be one this time. I felt burden and big responsibilities on my hand. However, I tried my best to organize my group, fair task delegation. I also had struggle when two of my members were lakcking of communication, and I can't help a lot to just assign them with task. Sometimes, there were members that really like to do things last minute, it really frustrates me as I don't like to finish task nearly the deadline, so I repetitively remind them and grateful that we managed to finish everything on time.

Observation
From my observation, communication is very important in a group work, and here, we are lacking of that which prevented us to finish task earlier or to get a better output. I've also observed that in the begining stage of design thinking process, we don't need to think too far about solutions, however we should stick to understand the users' needs. I've also observed that there's no need to be perfect in thi project, however, we learn to understand users need, define their needs, and give possible solutions for it, and it doesn't have to always be a grand result, however one that can have impact.

Findings
Throughout this journey, I've not only learn the process of design thinking, understanding users' need, ideating solution, however, I learn a lesson to manage a team, delegate tasks, ensure consistency in the run of my group to have a good end result. Communication is the key and in the future, if there's a group project, I will prioritize that to speak out my ideas and hear people's. This might not be the best outcome from our group, however, I am grateful to close this chapter with everything finalized.
